About the Role:
Milk Education is looking for a caring and patient SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Rochdale. As a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with complex needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, and SEMH. Our partner provision in Rochdale focuses on inclusive education, sensory support, and tailored academic interventions. This SEND Teaching Assistant position is ideal for someone who excels at building 1:1 trust with vulnerable young people in Rochdale. Working as a SEND Teaching Assistant in Rochdale, you will collaborate closely with the school SENCo to implement individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Your main responsibilities will include:

Providing 1:1 and small-group support to secondary students with identified SEND and EHCP targets.

Implementing de-escalation techniques and sensory breaks to support emotional regulation.

Adapting classroom resources in numeracy and literacy alongside the class teacher.

Promoting pupil independence, social skills, and positive engagement during lesson time.
Requirements or Skills:

Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, youth work qualification, or equivalent experience.

Direct experience supporting children or teenagers with Autism, SEMH, or complex learning needs.

Calm, empathetic approach under pressure with strong de-escalation skills.

Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service.
