Milk Education is working with a specialist Primary School in Darlington and the surrounding areas that supports pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We are looking to recruit a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Qualified SEN Teacher to join a supportive specialist setting from September 2026.

Whether you're an experienced SEN Teacher, Primary Teacher with SEND experience, Qualified Teacher, or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to develop your experience within a specialist environment, we'd love to hear from you. We have long-term, full-time opportunities available, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

You'll play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, creating a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment where every child can develop confidence, independence, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to pupils with SEND.
  • Support pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, SEMH, complex needs, and other additional learning needs.
  • Create a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment that supports individual development.
  • Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet the needs of each pupil.
  • Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress and achievement.
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, support staff, and the wider school team.
  • Develop positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers, and professionals.
  • Promote communication, independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Manage behaviour using consistent and positive strategies.
  • Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching within a Primary School or specialist SEN setting.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or complex needs.
  • Strong understanding of adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs.
  • A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs to succeed.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
