Milk Education are working in partnership with a high-performing secondary school in Dagenham to recruit a dedicated Pastoral Assistant to join their pastoral team. This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate and proactive Pastoral Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people with their wellbeing, attendance, behaviour and personal development. The successful Pastoral Assistant will play a key role in ensuring students feel safe, supported and able to thrive both academically and personally. The Role:
- Supporting students with attendance, behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Working as a Pastoral Assistant to build positive relationships with pupils and families
- Providing 1:1 and small-group pastoral interventions
- Supporting students who may be experiencing barriers to learning
- Liaising with teachers, safeguarding staff and external agencies where required
- Monitoring student welfare and maintaining accurate records
- Assisting with behaviour management and promoting positive conduct throughout the school
- Supporting safeguarding and student wellbeing initiatives across the school community
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience as a Pastoral Assistant, Learning Mentor, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker or Teaching Assistant
- Experience working with secondary-aged students
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Understanding of safeguarding and student welfare
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- Passion for supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes
