Milk Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive specialist provision school in Ossett that is looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.
This rewarding role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs. You'll play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, develop independence, and achieve their full potential within a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication needs, and complex learning difficulties
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group interventions to support learning and personal development
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and the wider pastoral team to implement individual learning plans
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development
- Encourage independence, resilience, and confidence both inside and outside the classroom
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and learning styles
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or additional needs in education, care, youth work, or similar settings
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to adapt to the individual needs of each pupil
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs to achieve their potential
Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential—we welcome applicants with transferable skills and the right attitude.
