We're currently recruiting for a Learning Mentor to join a supportive Primary School in Nottingham on a long-term basis starting in September. You'll be joining an inclusive school that places pupil wellbeing, confidence and positive relationships at the centre of its approach.

This role would suit someone with experience in education, youth work, mentoring, pastoral support or SEND who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group mentoring support
  • Helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and engagement
  • Supporting pupils with confidence, resilience and emotional wellbeing
  • Developing positive and trusted relationships with pupils
  • Supporting children with social, emotional and behavioural needs
  • Delivering targeted activities and interventions
  • Working alongside teachers, the SENCO and wider school team
  • Monitoring pupil engagement and providing feedback to staff
  • Encouraging positive attitudes towards learning and school

Requirements or Skills:

  • Recent experience working with children or young people
  • Experience in education, mentoring, youth work, pastoral support or SEND is desirable
  • Understanding of social, emotional and behavioural needs
  • Calm, patient and approachable manner
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare
