Year 6 is a big year. We need someone who can help pupils feel ready for what comes next.
Milk Education is looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Durham, supporting a Year 6 class throughout the school year.
You'll work closely with the class teacher to keep pupils engaged, confident and prepared for the transition to secondary school.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Supporting the Year 6 class throughout the school day
- Working with pupils 1:1 and in small groups
- Supporting English, maths and wider curriculum learning
- Helping with SATs preparation and targeted interventions
- Supporting reading, writing and comprehension
- Encouraging independent learning and good classroom routines
- Providing additional support where pupils need it
- Helping maintain a positive and focused classroom environment
- Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We’re particularly keen to hear from candidates with:
Previous Year 6 or KS2 experience
Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant / Supporting Teaching & Learning qualification
Experience supporting English and maths
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Confidence working with groups and individual pupils
A calm, reliable and positive approach
Experienced TAs, HLTAs, graduates and candidates with strong KS2 backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

PAY
This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
