- Literacy Intervention Assistant to join a welcoming Primary School in
Durham .
We're looking for someone who can make reading feel fun, achievable and exciting for pupils who need a little extra support.
You’ll work with individuals and small groups, helping children develop their phonics, reading, vocabulary and comprehension skills while building the confidence they need to become independent learners.
- What You’ll Be Doing
- Delivering 1:1 and small-group reading interventions.
- Supporting phonics and word recognition.
- Developing vocabulary and comprehension.
- Helping pupils close literacy gaps.
- Encouraging children to discover books they enjoy.
- Building confidence in reluctant readers.
- Adapting activities to different abilities.
- Working closely with teachers to support pupil progress.
- Celebrating every milestone — from reading a new word to finishing a whole book!
- We’re Looking For…
Someone who is
- Patient, enthusiastic and encouraging.
- A confident communicator.
- Passionate about helping children learn.
- Comfortable working 1:1 and with small groups.
- Experienced in tutoring, education, childcare, youth work or similar — desirable but not essential .
