Early Years Teaching Assistant - Durham

Milk Education is working with a number of welcoming and supportive Primary Schools across Durham and the surrounding areas and is looking to recruit caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistants to join schools from September 2026.

Whether you're an experienced Early Years Teaching Assistant, hold a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification, or have recent experience supporting children within an EYFS setting, we'd love to hear from you.

We have a range of long-term, full-time opportunities available, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

You'll play a vital role in supporting children's learning and development, helping to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where every child can thrive and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging EYFS learning activities.
  • Encourage learning through play and exploration.
  • Support children's communication, literacy, numeracy, and personal development.
  • Observe and monitor children's progress.
  • Promote positive behaviour and independence.
  • Support children with SEND where required.
  • Assist with personal care where necessary.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Early Years qualification is desirable.
  • Experience within EYFS, Nursery, or Reception.
  • Good understanding of the EYFS Framework.
  • Caring and nurturing approach.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Passion for supporting children's early education.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
