Early Reading Intervention Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Durham, helping pupils develop essential early literacy skills.

About the Role

As an

Early Reading Intervention Assistant , you'll play a vital role in supporting children who need extra help to develop their phonics knowledge and reading confidence.

You will

  • Deliver targeted catch-up sessions using the

Read Write Inc. Phonics programme.

  • Support
  • Year 1 pupils at risk of not meeting the expected standard in the

Phonics Screening Check .

  • Work with

Year 2 pupils who are required to resit the phonics assessment .

  • Track and record pupil progress, providing regular feedback to class teachers and the phonics lead.
  • Create a positive, nurturing environment where every child feels motivated to succeed.

About You

The ideal candidate will have

  • Experience delivering or supporting the Read Write Inc. phonics programme.
  • A solid understanding of early reading development and phonics instruction.
  • Experience working with

KS1 pupils in small groups or one-to-one.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
