We're currently recruiting for a Catering Assistant to join a school in Manchester on a long or short-term basis. This role is available on a temporary, permanent or temp-to-perm basis. You’ll be joining a vibrant, inclusive and pupil-centred school, where staff are encouraged to work collaboratively and contribute to a positive environment. As a Catering Assistant, you’ll play an important role in ensuring pupils receive a nutritious, high-quality and enjoyable lunchtime service. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and serving food to pupils and staff in line with food safety and hygiene standards
- Supporting the smooth running of the kitchen and dining areas
- Following food preparation, storage and cleaning procedures
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen and dining areas
- Supporting with stock rotation, deliveries and general kitchen duties
- Working effectively as part of a wider catering team
- Promoting a positive and welcoming lunchtime environment for pupils
Requirements or Skills:
- A Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene qualification is essential
- Recent experience working in a catering, kitchen or school catering environment
- Good understanding of food hygiene, health and safety procedures
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
- Reliable, organised and able to work in a busy environment
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards working with children and school staff
