1:1 Teaching Assistant - Primary School in South Manchester
Milk Education are working with a welcoming primary school in South Manchester who are seeking a caring and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a primary-aged pupil with autism.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them develop confidence, independence and positive relationships. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team to provide consistent and personalised support throughout the school day.
About the Role
- Provide individual support throughout the school day
- Help the pupil access lessons and classroom activities
- Adapt tasks to meet their individual learning needs
- Encourage confidence, independence and engagement
- Support communication and interaction with peers and adults
- Help with routines, transitions, breaktimes and lunchtimes
- Provide reassurance and support with emotional regulation
- Encourage positive behaviour and relationships
- Monitor progress and share observations with the teaching team
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO
- Help maintain a safe, calm and inclusive environment
- Follow safeguarding, SEND and school procedures
What We're Looking For
- Have experience supporting children with autism, SEND or additional needs
- Have experience in a primary school, nursery, care or similar setting
- Be patient, calm, caring and nurturing
- Be confident providing 1:1 support
- Build positive and trusting relationships with children
- Have strong communication and teamwork skills
- Be adaptable and able to respond to individual needs
- Be reliable, proactive and professional
- Have a genuine passion for children's learning and wellbeing
- Understand the importance of safeguarding and child protection
Experience supporting children with autism, sensory needs, communication difficulties or social and emotional needs would be beneficial.
Previous experience is not essential. Transferable experience from childcare, youth work, mentoring, care, coaching or volunteering is welcomed.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience and the requirements of the assignment.
