Lunchtime Supervisor - Nursery - Middlesbrough
We are working with a number of welcoming and nurturing nurseries across Middlesbrough and the surrounding areas and are looking to recruit caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Lunchtime Supervisors to join their teams from September 2026.
Whether you're an experienced Lunchtime Supervisor, Nursery Assistant, Childcare Assistant, or have experience working with young children, we'd love to hear from you.
We have a range of long-term, part-time and full-time opportunities available, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
You'll play an important role in ensuring children enjoy a safe, happy, and positive lunchtime experience, supporting their wellbeing while encouraging good manners, independence, and positive social interactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise children during lunch and snack times in a safe and caring environment.
- Encourage positive behaviour, good table manners, and healthy eating habits.
- Support children who require assistance during mealtimes.
- Supervise indoor and outdoor play before and after lunch, ensuring children remain safe and engaged.
- Promote positive friendships, inclusion, and respectful behaviour.
- Respond appropriately to minor accidents or incidents and report concerns to senior staff.
- Help prepare dining and play areas before and after lunchtime.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, health and safety throughout the nursery.
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Follow all safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience working with young children in a nursery, school, childcare, or similar setting is desirable.
- A caring, patient, and approachable nature.
- Ability to remain calm and confident in a busy environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Good understanding of health and safety and safeguarding responsibilities.
- A genuine passion for supporting children's wellbeing and development.

This role is paid in line with the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your experience, qualifications, and the requirements of the assignment.
