Milk Education is seeking a committed, resilient, and compassionate SEMH Learning Support Assistant to join our partner specialist schools across Guildford, Surrey . You'll support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

About the Role
As an SEMH Learning Support Assistant , you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom. You'll develop positive, trusting relationships with students, helping them regulate their emotions, improve their behaviour, and engage successfully with learning.
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, families, and external professionals, you will provide consistent, tailored support that meets each pupil's individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Build positive, professional relationships with pupils, acting as a trusted role model.
- Support pupils with SEMH needs using trauma-informed and restorative approaches.
- Deliver targeted interventions to improve behaviour, emotional wellbeing, attendance, and classroom engagement.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support during lessons.
- Respond calmly and confidently to challenging behaviour, following school policies and behaviour strategies.
- Contribute to behaviour support plans, risk assessments, and progress reviews.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, safeguarding leads, parents/carers, and external agencies.
- Promote an inclusive, safe, and nurturing learning environment.
- Monitor, record, and report on pupil progress and behaviour.

- Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, behavioural needs, or additional needs.
