An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Logistics Manager to lead a well‑established transport operation.

This role would suit a motivated logistics professional looking to take ownership of a compliant, customer‑focused fleet while developing their commercial and operational management skills.

Managing a fleet of seven vehicles, the successful candidate will oversee the day‑to‑day transport operation, ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance and service delivery.

Supported by a highly experienced Senior Operations Lead and an established planning and compliance team, this position offers the opportunity to focus on leadership, continuous improvement and operational excellence.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys developing people and processes, with genuine scope to shape the operation and expand their own commercial knowledge through exposure to P&L management.

  • The Candidate
  • A valid CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) in Road Transport Operations (essential).
  • Experience as an Operator Licence holder/Transport Manager.
  • A proven background in transport or logistics management.
  • Knowledge of customs, freight forwarding and sub contraction is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of transport compliance, fleet operations and driver legislation.
  • A maintenance or fleet engineering background would be highly desirable.
  • Experience leading operational teams and driving performance.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to make sound operational decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the day‑to‑day transport and logistics operation.
  • Act as the nominated Transport Manager and CPC holder on the Operator's Licence.
  • Ensure full compliance with DVSA regulations, Operator Licence requirements and driver legislation.
  • Oversee fleet maintenance, MOTs, PMIs and vehicle compliance, working closely with the planning and compliance teams.
  • Manage and develop operational teams, promoting a strong culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor operational performance, customer service levels and resource utilisation.
  • Support financial performance through effective operational management, with training provided in P&L management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs and enhance service delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure operational success.
