SEMH Teaching Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in South Liverpool.
This role involves working closely with students who present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing tailored interventions and consistent behavioural support.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide SEMH support to pupils in KS1 and KS2 (primarily boys).
- Implement 1:1 and small‑group interventions focused on emotional regulation, behaviour, and social skills.
- De‑escalate challenging situations using positive behaviour management strategies.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may display high levels of dysregulation.
- Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCO, and external professionals.
- Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment.
- What We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting children with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour (essential).
- Team Teach training (preferred).
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and solution‑focused under pressure.
- Understanding of trauma‑informed and relational practice.
- A passion for helping pupils re‑engage with education and develop positive coping strategies.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to safeguarding.
