The Role as a Humanities Teacher
As a Humanities Teacher, you will work with students across KS3 and KS4, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons that promote curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of people, places, beliefs, and societies. You will support students preparing for GCSE-level Humanities qualifications, depending on your subject specialism.
Key Responsibilities as a Humanities Teacher
- Deliver engaging Humanities lessons across your specialist subject(s) at KS3 and KS4
- Support students in developing critical thinking, analytical, and evaluative skills
- Prepare pupils for GCSE assessments, examinations, and coursework
- Adapt lessons and resources to meet a range of learning needs
- Encourage positive behaviour, participation, and engagement in learning
- Track student progress and provide effective feedback in line with school policies
- Build positive relationships to motivate and inspire learners
- Promote enthusiasm for history, geography, religion, culture, and society
The Ideal Candidate as a Humanities Teacher
- A degree in History, Geography, Religious Studies, Politics, or a related Humanities subject
- Strong subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for Humanities education
- Experience teaching or supporting secondary-aged students is desirable
- Open to both recent graduates and experienced teachers
- Confident, adaptable, and engaging communication style
- Passion for education and supporting young people to succeed
- Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
