The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Technician to join a well established engineering business operating within a heavy industrial environment in Liverpool.
The Electrical Technician will maintain critical equipment, ensuring maximum reliability and minimal downtime through both planned and reactive maintenance.
This role follows a 4 on 4 off days shift pattern with 12 hour shifts.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrically biased maintenance engineer who is looking to work on large-scale automated equipment, including ship to shore cranes, gantry cranes and other specialist container handling machinery.

The Electrical Technician will join a highly skilled engineering team responsible for maintaining advanced lifting and container handling equipment.
Responsibilities of the Electrical Technician
- Carry out 50% planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and 50% reactive maintenance
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults across a wide range of heavy industrial equipment
- Maintain ship to shore cranes, gantry cranes and other automated handling equipment
- Perform electrical fault finding, diagnostics and breakdown repairs
- Read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
- Work with PLC controlled systems, motors and variable speed drives
- Ensure equipment reliability, availability and safe operation
- Follow safe systems of work and company health & safety procedures
- Collaborate with the wider engineering team to minimise downtime and improve equipment performance
Requirements of the Electrical Technician
- Level 4, HNC or HND qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar
- At least 5 years' experience within electrical maintenance
- Previous experience within a heavy manufacturing, industrial or installation environment
- Excellent fault finding and troubleshooting skills
- Experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance
- Good understanding of PLC controlled equipment
- Experience working with motors, drives and electrical control systems
- Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings
- A full UK driving licence
- Experience working on cranes, container handling equipment or similar heavy plant (desirable)
