We're currently recruiting for a KS1 Inclusion Support Worker to join a welcoming primary school in Leeds on a long- or short-term basis. You'll be joining a supportive and inclusive primary school that places a strong focus on wellbeing, inclusion and community. Your Main Responsibilities

  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support to KS1 pupils, responding to their individual learning and wellbeing needs
  • Supporting pupils who may require additional help with their learning, communication, behaviour or emotional regulation
  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team to adapt activities and resources
  • Helping pupils access the curriculum and develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours
  • Supporting phonics, reading, writing and numeracy activities
  • Helping deliver targeted interventions and catch-up sessions to support pupils in closing learning gaps
  • Promoting an accepting and inclusive classroom where every child feels safe, valued and that they belong
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils and providing consistent encouragement
  • Supporting the classroom teacher with general classroom and pastoral duties where required

Requirements or Skills

  • Recent experience working in a primary school, education or childcare setting
  • Experience supporting children in KS1 is desirable
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and helping them overcome barriers to learning
  • Solid numeracy and literacy skills
  • A Level 2 or 3 qualification in childcare, education or a similar subject - or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Understanding of inclusion and the individual needs of children
  • Comfortable taking direction from the class teacher and working effectively as part of a team
  • A patient, caring and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
