We are currently recruiting 1:1 Teaching Assistants to work across a range of primary schools throughout Leeds, supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), behavioural needs and additional learning requirements on a long term basis.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a patient, resilient and nurturing individual who can provide consistent, personalised support and help children feel confident, included and successful at school.

The Role

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a child with ASD and/or behavioural needs.
  • Support pupils to access learning and participate positively in classroom activities.
  • Develop positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Encourage communication, independence, confidence and social development.
  • Help children manage emotions and regulate their behaviour using appropriate strategies.Support pupils when they experience difficulties with transitions, routines or changes.
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to implement individual support strategies.
  • Maintain a calm, consistent and encouraging approach throughout the school day.
  • Support pupils during lessons, break times, lunchtimes and wider school activities where required.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Patient, caring and empathetic.
  • Calm and confident when supporting children with challenging or unpredictable behaviour.
  • Consistent and able to maintain clear, positive boundaries.
  • Passionate about supporting children with SEND.
  • Able to build strong relationships while maintaining a professional approach.
  • Adaptable and willing to learn about each child's individual needs.
  • A strong communicator who can work effectively as part of a wider school team.

Previous experience supporting children with ASD, SEND or behavioural needs is desirable but not essential. Experience in a primary school, specialist setting, care environment or similar role would be advantageous.
