We are currently recruiting 1:1 Teaching Assistants to work across a range of primary schools throughout Leeds, supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), behavioural needs and additional learning requirements on a long term basis.

The Role
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a child with ASD and/or behavioural needs.
- Support pupils to access learning and participate positively in classroom activities.
- Develop positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Encourage communication, independence, confidence and social development.
- Help children manage emotions and regulate their behaviour using appropriate strategies.Support pupils when they experience difficulties with transitions, routines or changes.
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to implement individual support strategies.
- Maintain a calm, consistent and encouraging approach throughout the school day.
- Support pupils during lessons, break times, lunchtimes and wider school activities where required.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Patient, caring and empathetic.
- Calm and confident when supporting children with challenging or unpredictable behaviour.
- Consistent and able to maintain clear, positive boundaries.
- Passionate about supporting children with SEND.
- Able to build strong relationships while maintaining a professional approach.
- Adaptable and willing to learn about each child's individual needs.
- A strong communicator who can work effectively as part of a wider school team.
Previous experience supporting children with ASD, SEND or behavioural needs is desirable but not essential. Experience in a primary school, specialist setting, care environment or similar role would be advantageous.
