Milk Education is currently recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Durham. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced education professional who is passionate about helping children achieve their potential and creating a positive learning environment.

About the Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. You will work alongside teachers and school leaders to deliver engaging lessons, support pupil development, and provide targeted interventions where needed. You may be required to support pupils across Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, helping to ensure every child receives the support they need to succeed.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading whole-class, small-group, and intervention activities
  • Delivering pre-planned lessons and learning activities
  • Supporting pupils' academic, social, and emotional development
  • Providing additional support to pupils with a range of learning needs
  • Helping to maintain positive behaviour and classroom routines
  • Working closely with teachers and school staff to improve pupil outcomes
  • Encouraging confidence, independence, and a love of learning

  • HLTA status or strong experience working as a Teaching Assistant
  • Experience supporting learning within a primary school setting
  • Confidence delivering lessons and activities independently
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's education

Experience supporting pupils with SEND is desirable but not essential.
