Milk Education is working with a number of welcoming and supportive Primary Schools across Middlesbrough and the surrounding areas and is looking to recruit passionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated

Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to join schools from September 2026.

Whether you're an experienced HLTA or an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to progress within education, we'd love to hear from you.

We have a range of long-term, full-time opportunities available, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

You'll play a vital role in supporting pupils' learning, leading interventions, and working closely with teachers to provide high-quality education and support within the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging lessons and activities across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 where required.
  • Support teachers with planning, preparation, and assessment activities.
  • Lead interventions and small group learning sessions.
  • Support pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours.
  • Provide support for pupils with SEND and additional learning needs.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Support effective classroom and behaviour management.
  • Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • HLTA qualification or significant experience as a Teaching Assistant.
  • Experience working within a primary school setting.
  • Experience leading learning activities or interventions.
  • Strong understanding of child development and the primary curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Passion for supporting children's education and development.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
