Milk Education is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and dedicated History Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Abbey Wood from September 2026 until February 2027 on a full‑time maternity cover contract.

This History Teacher role is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator who is committed to inspiring students through the study of history and helping them develop critical thinking, analytical, and evaluative skills. The successful History Teacher will join a supportive Humanities department and play a key role in delivering engaging lessons that bring historical events, cultures, and societies to life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning and delivering engaging History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Creating an inclusive and stimulating learning environment that encourages curiosity and discussion
  • Developing students' understanding of historical events, themes, and interpretations
  • Assessing, monitoring, and recording student progress effectively
  • Differentiating learning to meet the needs of all students
  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Contributing to the wider Humanities department and school community
The Ideal Candidate Will
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Have experience teaching History at secondary level
  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and a passion for History education
  • Have excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Be committed to achieving positive outcomes for all students
  • Be able to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
