Milk Education is working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Gateshead to appoint a Year 2 Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team from September.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons
- Provide one-to-one and small group support where required
- Assist pupils with literacy, numeracy, and wider curriculum activities
- Help prepare learning resources and maintain an organised classroom environment
Pupil Support & Wellbeing
- Encourage positive behaviour and engagement with learning
- Support pupils' social, emotional, and academic development
- Build positive relationships with pupils to promote confidence and independence
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Teamwork & Professional Practice
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents where appropriate
- Support assessment activities and monitor pupil progress
- Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times
- Contribute positively to the wider school community
Essential Criteria
- Recent experience working with primary-aged children, ideally within Key Stage 1
- A teaching assistant qualification
- A positive, patient, and proactive approach to supporting learning
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Must live locally to Gateshead—no relocation
