Graduate Teaching Assistant

Milk Education is currently recruiting Graduate Teaching Assistants to work across a range of secondary and SEND schools. This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates who are considering a career in teaching, SEND, educational psychology, youth work or pastoral support.
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff, helping pupils to access learning, build confidence and overcome barriers to their education.
You don't need extensive school experience β we're looking for enthusiastic, reliable graduates who are passionate about working with young people and keen to develop their skills within education.
We have both full time and part time opportunities.
What We're Looking For
- A degree in any subject.
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
- A genuine passion for working with children and young people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, positive and proactive approach.
- Confidence working with pupils individually and in small groups.
- The ability to build positive relationships with young people.
- A willingness to learn and develop within a school environment.
- Ability to provide two recent references.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teachers with the delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons.
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils.
- Help pupils overcome barriers to learning and develop their confidence.
- Support pupils with SEND, Autism, ADHD, SEMH and additional learning needs where required.
- Assist pupils with their classwork and encourage positive engagement.
- Help promote positive behaviour and effective classroom routines.
- Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Support pupils during lessons, break times, lunch and transitions.
- Adapt your approach to meet individual pupil needs.
- Provide feedback to teachers regarding pupil engagement and progress.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
