Role Overview
As an Early Career Teacher, you will deliver high-quality lessons across your allocated year group or subject, creating engaging learning experiences that support pupil progress. Through long-term supply placements, you will have the opportunity to complete your ECT induction while receiving ongoing support from both the school and your dedicated Milk Education consultant. This role is ideal for newly qualified teachers looking to gain experience, build confidence, and establish themselves within local schools before securing a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including pupils with SEND and additional learning needs
- Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress effectively
- Promote high expectations for learning, behaviour, and achievement
- Classroom Management
- Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and confidence
- Maintain effective classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Support pupils' social, emotional, and academic development
- Create a safe and supportive learning environment
- Professional Practice
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, senior leaders, and support staff
- Participate in school life and professional development opportunities where appropriate
- Meet the Teachers' Standards as part of your ECT induction
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils
Essential Criteria
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or pending QTS completion
- Eligible to complete your Early Career Teacher (ECT) induction
- A genuine passion for teaching and inspiring young people
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- A flexible and positive approach to working across different school settings
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Must live locally to Gateshead—no relocation
