Milk Education is seeking dedicated Behaviour Support Assistants to support pupils across primary schools in Gateshead. Opportunities are available on both a part-time and full-time basis, with flexible supply work, long-term placements and permanent opportunities available.
We are supporting a number of partner schools with their September recruitment plans, making this a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to gain valuable classroom experience, develop their behaviour support skills or secure their next long-term role.
The Role of a Behaviour Support Assistant:
- Work closely with pupils who require additional support with emotional regulation, confidence, social skills and positive behaviour.
- Create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment where children feel supported, understood and ready to engage with their education.
- Work alongside class teachers and school staff to implement personalised strategies, build trusting relationships and encourage pupils to develop independence and resilience.
Responsibilities of a Behaviour Support Assistant may include:
- Providing 1:1 support for pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support.
- Supporting children to regulate emotions and develop positive coping strategies.
- Implementing behaviour support plans and personalised interventions.
- Encouraging engagement in classroom activities and learning.
- Building positive relationships with pupils to support confidence and self-esteem.
- Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams.
- Supporting pupils during transitions, break times and less structured activities.
- Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive and supportive school environment.
