We're looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Reading Intervention Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Darlington, helping pupils develop essential early literacy skills.
About the Role
As an Early Reading Intervention Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting children who need extra help to develop their phonics knowledge and reading confidence. You will:
- Deliver targeted catch-up sessions using the Read Write Inc. Phonics programme.
- Support Year 1 pupils at risk of not meeting the expected standard in the Phonics Screening Check.
- Work with Year 2 pupils who are required to resit the phonics assessment.
- Track and record pupil progress, providing regular feedback to class teachers and the phonics lead.
- Create a positive, nurturing environment where every child feels motivated to succeed.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience delivering or supporting the Read Write Inc. phonics programme.
- A solid understanding of early reading development and phonics instruction.
- Experience working with KS1 pupils in small groups or one-to-one.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, patient, and supportive approach to learning.
