SEN Classroom Assistant - Primary School | Cramlington
Milk Education are recruiting for a SEN Classroom Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Cramlington from September 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and wants to make a genuine difference to their learning and development.
You'll work closely with the class teacher and wider support team to provide tailored support, helping pupils engage with learning, build confidence and develop their independence.
The Role
As a SEN Classroom Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs
- Support pupils to access the curriculum and engage in classroom activities
- Build positive and trusting relationships with children
- Support pupils with their communication, social development and independence
- Assist with targeted interventions and learning activities
- Work closely with the class teacher and wider school team
- Help maintain a calm, inclusive and supportive classroom environment
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Experienced working with children or young people with SEND
- Patient, caring and empathetic
- Confident building positive relationships with pupils
- Able to adapt their approach to meet individual needs
- Reliable and proactive
- Comfortable working as part of a wider school team
- Passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning
Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH or communication needs would be advantageous, although we are also keen to hear from candidates with transferable experience.
