Working hours: 8:30-3:30 Monday to Friday (Term-time only)

Salary: £450-£550 per week

We're currently recruiting for an Autism Learning Mentor to join a specialist SEND school in Durham on a long-term basis starting in September. This role is long-term and candidates are invited to apply for any permanent positions available in school during their placement.

You will be joining a highly supportive SEND school for children and young people aged 5-19, dedicated to reducing barriers to learning and helping every pupil thrive by recognising and building on their individual strengths. The school offers exceptional facilities across its main site, creating engaging learning environments that support pupils academically, socially and emotionally.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Supporting children and young people with autism on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping them access learning in ways that suit their individual needs and strengths.
• Building positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day.
• Working alongside teaching staff to deliver personalised support and adapt learning activities to reduce barriers to participation, engagement and progress.
• Creating a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment where every pupil feels valued, supported and able to succeed.

Requirements:

• Recent experience supporting children or vulnerable adults
• An Enhanced Child and Adult Workforce DBS or be willing to apply for one
• The ability to provide 2 recent employment references
