A friendly and inclusive primary school in Chesterfield is looking to appoint a caring and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils both within the classroom and through targeted interventions, helping them to develop academically, socially and emotionally.
The Role:
- Support pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2.
- Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions to help children achieve their learning goals.
- Work closely with the class teacher to adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
- Support pupils with additional learning needs, including SEND, where required.
- Encourage positive behaviour and promote confidence and independence.
- Assist in creating an engaging, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Has previous experience working with children in a school, nursery, childcare or similar setting.
- Is patient, caring and passionate about supporting children's learning.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Can work effectively as part of a team and use their own initiative.
- Has a flexible and proactive approach to supporting pupils.
- Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
Desirable Experience:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language needs.
- Knowledge of phonics programmes such as Read Write Inc. or Little Wandle.
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Experience delivering literacy and numeracy interventions.
