Early Years Support Assistant: Main Responsibilities
- Supporting children with their learning, development and day-to-day needs within the Early Years setting
- Encouraging independence and helping children develop their communication, social and self-management skills
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required
- Supporting children to engage positively and consistently in activities and learning
- Building positive and trusting relationships with children, staff and families
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
- Following school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and confidentiality requirements
Early Years Support Assistant: Requirements & Skills
- A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Childcare, Education or a related subject is preferred
- Previous experience working with children in an Early Years, school, nursery or educational setting is desirable
- A caring, patient and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A positive attitude and enthusiasm for supporting children's learning and development
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A good understanding of safeguarding and the importance of creating a safe environment for children
