Milk Education are currently recruiting for a Casual Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming secondary school in Hackney.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Graduate, or aspiring teacher looking for flexible work within a secondary school environment.
As a Casual Cover Supervisor, you will play an important role in ensuring students continue to learn effectively when their usual teacher is absent. You will be responsible for supervising classes, delivering pre-set work and maintaining a positive and purposeful learning environment.
The Role
- Supervise classes across a range of subjects during teacher absence.
- Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and ensure students understand the work provided.
- Maintain a calm, positive and productive classroom environment.
- Manage student behaviour confidently and consistently in line with school policies.
- Encourage students to remain focused, engaged and respectful.
- Support students with their learning where appropriate.
- Ensure students complete the work set by their teacher.
- Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding the lesson and student engagement.
- Follow all safeguarding, child protection, health and safety procedures.
- Build positive and professional relationships with students and staff.

- Confident working with secondary-aged students.
- Able to establish clear boundaries and manage behaviour effectively.
- Reliable, punctual and professional.
- Calm and adaptable when working in different classroom environments.
- A confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
- Proactive and able to use initiative.
- Passionate about supporting young people and their education.
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of students.
- Available for casual or ad-hoc assignments.
Previous experience working within a school or education setting is desirable but not essential. Graduates and candidates looking to gain valuable classroom experience are encouraged to apply.
