Overview
Milk Education is looking for compassionate, dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistants to join our team, supporting pupils in specialist schools and inclusive mainstream settings across Bolton. Whether you have previous SEND experience or transferable skills from care, youth work, coaching or residential support, we would love to hear from you.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in helping children overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and achieve their individual goals. You could be supporting pupils with:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- ADHD
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Moderate, Severe and Profound Learning Difficulties (MLD, SLD & PMLD)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Physical disabilities and complex needs
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support
- Assisting with personalised learning activities
- Encouraging communication, independence and social development
- Supporting positive behaviour using consistent and nurturing strategies
- Working closely with teachers, therapists and SENCOs
- Creating a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment
What We're Looking For

- Able to adapt to different learning needs and environments
Experience in any of the following is highly desirable:
- SEND schools
- Mainstream education
- Care or support work
- Residential childcare
- Youth work
- Mental health support
- Sports coaching
- Nurseries or Early Years settings
Relevant qualifications such as CACHE, Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, Health & Social Care or Childcare are welcomed but not essential.
