Are you a recent graduate looking to gain valuable experience working with children before progressing into teaching, educational psychology, psychology, SEND or another child-focused career?
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate SEND Teaching Assistant to join specialist SEND schools across Bolton, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking to start a career in education or SEND, gaining hands-on experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, communication needs, learning difficulties and behavioural challenges.
You will work closely with experienced teachers and support staff to help pupils overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and develop their independence.
The Role
As a Graduate SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEND.
- Support pupils to access and engage with learning.
- Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a consistent role model.
- Support children with autism, ADHD, communication needs, learning difficulties and behavioural challenges.
- Help pupils with emotional regulation, confidence and independence.
- Promote positive behaviour through calm, consistent and nurturing approaches.
- Follow individual EHCP, learning and behaviour support strategies.
- Encourage pupils to develop their communication, social skills and resilience.
- Support pupils during lessons, transitions, break times and lunchtimes.
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and other professionals to support pupil progress.
We're Looking For a Graduate Who:
- Has recently completed, or is due to complete, a degree in any subject.
- Has a genuine passion for working with children and young people with SEND.
- Is considering a future career in teaching, psychology, educational psychology, SEND, social work or another child-focused profession.
- Is patient, calm and confident when supporting children with additional needs.
- Can build strong and positive relationships with pupils.
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Is resilient, adaptable and eager to learn.
- Has a genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
Previous school experience is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from graduates with transferable experience through university placements, volunteering, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, childcare, youth work or care.
