Make a Difference Every DayAre you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behavioural Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Bolton.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children and young people who require additional support with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement in education. You will play a key role in helping pupils develop confidence, build positive relationships and achieve their potential within a safe and supportive learning environment.
The Role
As a Behavioural Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
- Support pupils in and out of the classroom to encourage engagement with learning.
- Promote positive behaviour through consistent, restorative and nurturing approaches.
- Implement individual behaviour support plans and intervention strategies.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, resilience and independence.
- Act as a positive role model, encouraging positive choices and promoting self-confidence.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, SENCOs and external professionals.
- Maintain accurate records in line with school safeguarding and behaviour policies.
We\'re Looking For Someone Who
- Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, Autism, ADHD or additional needs.
- Is calm, patient and confident when managing behaviours that challenge.
- Can build strong and positive relationships with pupils.
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Is resilient, adaptable and committed to improving outcomes for young people.
- Has experience within education, care, youth work, residential care or a similar setting (desirable), although candidates with transferable skills and the right attitude are encouraged to apply.
