Milk Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Bishop Auckland to recruit a passionate Humanities Teacher for a full-time, long-term supply position starting in September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher of Humanities (History, Geography and/or Religious Education) to join a thriving department and make a real impact on students' learning. The role is expected to continue on a long-term basis and offers consistency within a fantastic school environment.

The Role

As the successful Humanities Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver engaging Humanities lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Teach predominantly History, Geography and/or Religious Education.
  • Plan, prepare and assess lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students can thrive.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support high standards across the department.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has experience teaching Humanities within UK secondary schools.
  • Demonstrates excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Has a genuine passion for inspiring young people.
  • Is organised, reliable and committed to delivering high-quality teaching.
  • ECTs are encouraged to apply.
