We’re looking for an organised and proactive Assistant Editor to join our Digitisation and Asset Management team on a 12-month fixed-term contract and help deliver outstanding digitisation projects that open up important archival material for researchers around the world.

Our work helps researchers, students and libraries access valuable archival material in new and meaningful ways. At the heart of this is our Digitisation and Asset Management team, which plays a vital role in delivering high-quality digital resources.
About The Role
This is a key delivery role with a strong focus on project management and supplier management. The digitisation team are responsible for the capture and digital preservation of unique historic documents from archives and libraries around the world. This is a Hybrid role with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office. In this role, you will help ensure the smooth running of digitisation, assessment, redaction and archiving projects. You will coordinate activity across multiple projects at once, working closely with digitisation vendors, archive partners and outsourcing suppliers to keep projects on track, on budget and to the required standards. You will be responsible for maintaining clear project records, monitoring budgets and forecasts, tracking progress and resolving day-to-day issues. You will also build productive working relationships with suppliers and external partners, acting as a trusted point of contact and helping to ensure expectations, deadlines and quality standards are consistently met. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a detail-focused, operationally complex environment and wants to contribute to the delivery of award-winning primary source publications.
Skills And Experience
We are looking for someone with experience in project and supplier management, ideally within digitisation, publishing or a related environment. You should be comfortable managing multiple priorities, coordinating suppliers and maintaining high standards of accuracy and organisation. You will ideally bring:
- At least two years’ experience in operational project management, ideally within a digitisation or publishing environment
- Strong project management experience, with the ability to manage concurrent workflows effectively
- Experience of working with and managing external suppliers or partners
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise across multiple projects
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Confidence in making practical, well-judged decisions
- Good data literacy, including budget tracking and forecasting
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills
- An proactive approach to problem solving and process improvement
- An interest in digital humanities, digital publishing or cultural heritage digitisation
Previous experience in digitisation would be welcomed, but it is not essential.
