Role Description

The CNC Programmer and Operator role is a full-time, on-site position based in the West Midlands.

In this role, the individual programs, sets up, and operates CNC milling and turning machines to produce precision components to exact specifications, working with a range of materials including aluminum, stainless steel, and high-performance alloys.

Daily responsibilities include interpreting engineering drawings and CAD/CAM data, selecting appropriate tooling and machining strategies, performing in-process inspections, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

The role also involves troubleshooting machining issues, optimizing cycle times, collaborating with engineering and quality teams, and contributing to continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.

Accurate documentation, adherence to quality and environmental procedures, and care of equipment and workspace are integral parts of the day-to-day work.

Qualifications

  • Ability to program, set, and operate CNC milling and turning machines, ideally with experience in 3-, 4- and 5-axis machining.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, models, and CAD/CAM data for precision manufacturing.
  • Skills in using metrology tools and CMM or other inspection equipment to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Experience working with a variety of engineering materials, including plastics, aluminum, stainless steel, and exotic alloys such as Inconel and Titanium.
  • Understanding of machining processes such as turning, grinding, and EDM, with a focus on high-precision and low-volume production.
  • Knowledge of quality standards and best practices in aerospace, automotive, or similar demanding sectors.
