Working at Roehampton, Opcare has been providing prosthetic services in Roehampton since 2008 and has recently been re-awarded the contract. This role offers a great opportunity to influence and advance service delivery. The Prosthetic Department is based in the Douglas Bader Rehabilitation Centre within Queen Mary’s Hospital. We provide inpatient and outpatient prosthetic care for a diverse patient group, including complex upper and lower limb cases, congenital limb differences, and pediatric patients. This environment offers exposure to varied clinics and cases.

Our multidisciplinary team includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, rehabilitation consultants, nursing staff, psychologists, social workers, and an onsite gait lab team. All prosthetic manufacturing is performed onsite by skilled technicians, fostering a collaborative approach to device design and production, including clinics run by clinical support technicians.

We are seeking an experienced Prosthetist eager to develop their career within our large, dynamic team in Roehampton. The role involves managing a complex caseload, requiring clinical expertise in at least one area of prosthetics, with opportunities for specialization. The successful candidate will work closely with the prosthetic team, including clinicians, technicians, and wider NHS MDTs, to enhance service delivery. The role also involves mentoring less experienced prosthetists, graduates, and students, and supporting service development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure high-quality patient care and smooth service operations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Queen Mary’s Hospital and the wider Trust, including surgeons and consultants.
  • Develop expertise in a prosthetic specialty, preferably upper limb, osseointegration, or complex limb builds.
  • Mentor junior colleagues, graduates, and students.
  • Contribute to in-service training sessions.

The successful candidate will support service development and improvements, joining a dedicated team with access to regional and national training to enhance clinical skills. Our goal is to deliver exceptional care using the latest clinical and technical innovations.

  • BSc Prosthetics and Orthotics
  • Certified Prosthetist
