The Mechanical Supervisor is a key role within the Maintenance team to support the safe operation of assets, plant productivity and reliability. As the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, you will be a direct report to the Mechanical Maintenance Technicians and Mechanical Shift Maintenance Technician and report directly to the Maintenance Manager. The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all mechanical maintenance tasks.

This role is key to driving and maintaining all site safety standards throughout the Maintenance team, ensuring site and industry regulations are followed allowing operation as a top tier COMAH Site. Work closely with operations to ensure customer quality requirements relating to ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO14001 and cGMP as well as the requirements for cross contamination prevention are maintained.

Take full responsibility of all Mechanical Maintenance activities and deliver maintenance tasks safely and in a timely manner. Work closely with the Planning & Scheduling team and Site Engineers striving to increase plant reliability for all production assets.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

The main duties of this role are to ensure that Health, Safety and Environmental standards are maintained throughout the delivery of all work, taking full responsibility of all Mechanical work, including breakdowns, PMs, Compliance work, site regulatory work and defects. This needs to be completed in a timely manner and ensure work orders are closed out within the CMMS system.

  • Day to day management of the Mechanical Maintenance team, including but not limited to:
  • Adhere to safe operating procedures, safe systems of work and management procedures always.
  • Allocating work to the Mechanical Maintenance team.
  • Reviewing and issuing work packs to both the Maintenance team and Contract parties. Ensuring RAMS are adequate for the task.
  • Collecting progress updates and keeping all parties informed of work progression (schedule).
  • Taking sole responsibility of priority work from the defect being raised right through to completion. Raising PRs, organising contract resources, creating RAMS.
  • Ensuring work is documented and closed out within the Maintenance Management System.
  • Manage timekeeping, holidays, disciplinary matters and deputies for the Maintenance Manager.
  • Work with the Maintenance Planner to develop job packs, RAMS and Maintenance Schedule to create an accurate schedule on a weekly basis.
  • Contribute to RCAs and follow up on any actions to ensure equipment performance and reliability is maintained and improved.
  • First line problem solving for arising mechanical faults or work delivery problems.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities ensuring PMs are raised and executed in accordance with equipment.
SHEQ Management

Ensure that all Environmental, Health & Safety requirements are met during the execution of maintenance tasks. Promote a positive safety culture throughout the Maintenance team.

  • Safety – Ensure work is carried out safely and as per company guidelines.
  • Quality – Ensure work is carried out to industry standards and OEM recommendations to ultimately reduce equipment downtime and increase equipment performance.
  • Report any accidents or near misses as required by our Health and Safety Policy.
  • Report improvements and “good practices” which the team have demonstrated.
Equipment Management

Ensure PMs, compliance and site regulatory work orders are completed in the given time frame. Supervise the Maintenance Mechanical Technicians, instructing the team on priority work in accordance with site priorities. Support projects/changeovers when required. Liaise with external OEM contractors to plan compliance inspections and work alongside the Maintenance Planner to plan future PM tasks.
