We are looking for an experienced Site Manager to oversee the final stages of construction and commissioning on a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project. The successful candidate will ensure safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of works on a live construction site, coordinating both civil and electrical activities as the project progresses into final completion.

This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to drive progress across multiple work fronts while maintaining high safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee day-to-day site management on a BESS installation in late-stage construction.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, trades, and suppliers to ensure works are delivered to programme.
  • Enforce and maintain all site Health & Safety standards in line with SMSTS requirements.
  • Carry out toolbox talks, site inductions, RAMS reviews, and daily briefings.
  • Monitor construction progress, identify risks, and escalate/resolve issues proactively.
  • Ensure quality control of civil and electrical works, working closely with engineer teams.
  • Manage site documentation, permits, and reporting as required.
  • Support commissioning activities and ensure smooth handover stages.
  • Liaise with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to maintain clear communication.
Essential Requirements:
  • SMSTS qualification (mandatory)
  • Strong civil or electrical background
  • Proven experience managing construction sites, ideally in energy, utilities, renewables, substations, or BESS
  • Excellent understanding of H&S, CDM regs, and site management processes
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
Desirable:
  • Electrical Authorised Person (AP) – massive advantage
  • Experience with HV/LV systems, battery storage, or grid-connected infrastructure
  • First Aid, Temporary Works, or other relevant certs
