We are looking for a CSA Senior Cost Consultant to join our Cost & Commercial Management team, supporting the commercial delivery of a major hyperscale data centre programme in the North East. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial professional with strong post-contract cost management expertise to work on a high-profile, complex capital project. The role will focus on the first phase of data centre delivery and associated campus infrastructure, supporting the commercial management of key Civil, Structural and Architectural (CSA) work packages from procurement through to final account.
You will work closely with the site-based commercial leadership team, general contractors, supply chain partners and the wider project team to help drive robust commercial outcomes across GMP procurement, FIDIC contract administration, change control, valuations, forecasting and final accounts.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the Commercial Director in the commercial management of major CSA capital work packages from procurement to final account
- Supporting, and where agreed leading, GMP development, negotiation and conversion to agreed package values
- Preparing and reviewing valuations, payment recommendations and change control with the wider site commercial team
- Contributing to cost reports, forecasts, CVRs and executive dashboards
- Supporting the administration of FIDIC contracts and wider commercial governance processes
- Reviewing tender analysis and recommendation reports prepared by the lead general contractor
- Helping manage commercial risks, opportunities and contingency
- Collaborating with design, PMO, construction, procurement and commissioning teams as required
- Supporting, and where agreed leading, the commercial management of enabling works, civils, piling, structures, steel and architectural packages
- Supporting, and where agreed leading, final accounts in conjunction with the lead general contractor
- Working within established financial systems and budgets to track costs, variances and forecasts
- Supporting compliance with internal risk, governance and commercial assurance processes
- Analysing commercial data and project documentation to identify key themes, trends and recommendations
- Providing clear commercial advice to support project decision-making
- Sharing knowledge and contributing to service improvement and innovation within the wider cost management team
- Building effective relationships with clients, contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders
- Supporting and mentoring more junior colleagues on technical and project delivery matters where appropriate
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in a cost and commercial management role on major capital projects
- Strong post-contract experience, ideally including:
- GMP procurement and commercial negotiation
- FIDIC contract administration
- Change management
- Valuations and payment processes
- Forecasting and reporting
- Final account settlement
- Experience managing or supporting CSA-related packages
- Ability to analyse commercial information and provide practical recommendations
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience working alongside contractors, consultants and clients
- Confidence working in a site-based project environment
- Experience supporting, coaching or mentoring more junior team members
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline
- Relevant professional qualification or chartered status
