We are seeking a dedicated and experienced HSE Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a positive safety culture, and implementing effective HSE policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have completed their NEBOSH Diploma or similar and possess a strong understanding of HSE best practices. This position requires keen attention to detail, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced project environment and be willing to travel.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Maintain health, safety and environment legal compliance for the project.
- Promote and lead a positive safety culture and safety work practices.
- Review and approve Risk Assessments and project risk management documentation.
- Report, maintain and mitigate hazard observations.
- Provide HSE training and project inductions, mentor employees and subcontractor staff on health, safety & environment matters.
- Investigate incidents and accidents using a defined investigation model.
- Highlight and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence as instructed by the health and safety manager.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices and propose new innovative HSE solutions.
- Assist and maintain legal compliance to company ISO standards, and project specific compliance documentation.
- Develop and maintain a strong relationship with clients.
- Implement HSE initiatives and incentives programs.
- Take a leading role in auditing, inspections site, vessel and equipment operations.
- Maintain project HSE action tracker and deliverables register.
- Take a leading role in project HAZID / HAZOP and Hira reviews and assessments and maintaining the assessment schedule.
- Highlight and resolve deficiencies in HSE policies, procedures & Safe systems of work.
- Support site / vessel operational works.
- Lead project safety campaign schedule and implementation.
- Support and take part in new equipment design safety, FMEA’s and emergency response reviews.
Key Tasks
- Maintain and coordinate HSE systems and inspections for the project in conjunction with the HSE Manager to maintain legal compliance and project deliverables.
- Write and maintain project documentation, i.e. SHE projects plans and environmental documentation.
- Maintain a strong HSE presence within the project team, supporting and advising the project team members and contractors on a daily basis.
- Compile weekly project reporting and HSE statistics to the project teams and client.
- Write and deliver specific HSE training programs for the project.
- Take part in equipment design safety reviews and HIRA’s.
- Develop and deliver HSE training programs and HSE initiatives.
- Prepare and maintain HSE documentation, including risk assessments, incident reports, safe systems of work.
- Lead & chair the project safe working group meetings.
- Coordinate emergency response plans and conduct regular drills.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Waste management and environmental protection initiatives.
- Manage Contractor Safety: Oversee the safety performance of contractors and ensure they comply with the organization’s & project HSE procedures.
- Behavioral Safety Programs: Develop and implement programs that focus on improving safety behaviors and attitudes among employees.
- Regulatory Compliance Audits: Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with local, national, and international HSE regulations and standards.
- Co-ordinate project CSR programs and carbon footprint reporting.
- Lead and coordinate environmental subjects, procedures and inspections to maintain compliance.
- Be the HSE interface of the project with the project team, client and sub-contractors.

Education and Qualifications Specific to Role
- Essential Qualifications or equivalent experience: Nebosh Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and safety. Offshore / Subsea equipment HSE operational experience.
- Desirable Qualifications or Equivalent Experience: Nebosh Construction Certificate. (CDM) Nebosh Environmental Certificate. ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor.
- Demonstrable Experience Specific to Role: Engineering experience and exposure to offshore working environments and equipment. Experience with high-risk project environments. Willingness to travel and support the work sites.
