We are recruiting a brand-new Product Manager role within our Technical team to support the technical delivery, quality, and performance of the Vegetables category. The role is predominantly office-based in Peterborough, with occasional travel to UK and overseas suppliers as required. This position supports the technical management of vegetable products, acting as a key contact for food safety, quality, and compliance. You’ll work closely with customers, suppliers, site teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure products meet required standards and performance expectations across the category.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical point of contact for food safety and quality, supporting customer requirements and queries
  • Support the management of technical issues, complaints, product rejections, and non-conformances
  • Monitor product quality performance and drive improvements against agreed KPIs and standards
  • Work proactively with suppliers and site teams to maintain quality, compliance, and consistency
  • Support product launches, specification management, and performance reviews
  • Provide technical guidance on stock management, including FEFO/FIFO and residency times
  • Maintain customer technical systems and ensure specifications and documentation are up to date
  • Collaborate with Commercial and Operations teams to support category activity and continuous improvement

About You

Essential:

  • Strong produce knowledge
  • Experience working with major UK retailers
  • Demonstrable understanding of food safety and technical standards
  • Factory or packhouse production experience
  • HACCP and food safety qualification
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure

Desirable:

  • Experience working within vegetable categories such as Aubergine, Courgette and Butternut squash
  • Previous exposure to category-based product or technical ownership
