Lead AM Best’s industry research activity in the EMEA region working closely with the rating analytical teams in London and Amsterdam to reinforce AM Best’s position as a ‘thought leader’, principally through the production and publication of industry reports and commentaries covering countries, regions or thematic topics.

Responsibilities

  • Write and/or edit in-depth thought leadership reports working closely with senior analysts and market development colleagues to help determine AM Best's position on relevant issues.
  • Conduct research on market and other relevant issues identified in conjunction with the rating analytical teams as priority topics and develop a broad range of reports and commentaries relevant to the insurance and reinsurance sectors.
  • Initiate and manage the publication of an agreed annual schedule of reports.
  • Work closely with research and editorial groups located in other global offices to ensure consistency of reports and commentaries.
  • Identify and analyse insurance trends and issues in the EMEA markets.
  • Lead or assist the rating personnel in communicating AM Best's position on market and other relevant issues to a wide audience including insurance intermediaries, consultants, (re)insurers, regulators via dissemination of special reports, seminars, conference speaking, etc.
  • Produce summary ‘real-time’ commentary on current/topical market issues for the analytical teams and external audiences.
  • Liaise with US-based production team to ensure timely high-quality report publication.
  • Engage closely with the media team to help publicise the reports, including press release drafting and overseeing the translation of many of the reports and accompanying press releases and publicity videos into dual languages.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Previous writing, editorial, research and analytical experience gained within an international insurance/reinsurance environment, rating agencies, audit and consulting firms, insurance brokers, equity and fixed-income, trade press.
  • Technical expertise in (re)insurance industry and company financial analysis.
  • Well versed in Microsoft Excel and comfortable analyzing financial information related to insurers.
  • Understanding of financial statements and accounting regimes including IFRS 4 and IFRS 17.
  • Strong internal and external networking skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate support staff.
  • A European language would be desirable.
