About The Role

The Big Half Marathon on Sunday, September 6, 2026 celebrates the diversity of London, with the route going through Tower Hamlets, Southwark, Lewisham, and Greenwich. You’ll bring energy and encouragement to runners, helping create a vibrant, inclusive, and unforgettable race-day atmosphere. Support participants as they take on the challenge and raise funds for vital Alzheimer’s Society research and support. Sign up and become part of the action by volunteering at the cheer point.

As a Cheer Point Volunteer, you’ll be the lively, supportive presence of Alzheimer’s Society along the race route, encouraging and motivating participants as they push towards the finish line. This is a fantastic opportunity to show runners how much we appreciate their dedication to supporting Alzheimer’s Society, whilst helping to create a memorable, uplifting atmosphere for all runners!

Volunteers will be:

  • Using provided cheer materials to make as much noise as possible and cheer on our runners.
  • Part of the team creating a high-energy and encouraging environment for participants.

What you'll receive:

  • Regular contact with the event team in the weeks before the event.
  • An on the day contact who will greet you and support you.
  • A volunteer t-shirt.
  • Snacks and drinks while you volunteer.
