Overview
About The Role: Do you want to use your interpersonal skills over the telephone to provide vital support and services information to people affected by dementia? As a Telephone Support Volunteer, you will help people living with dementia or worried about memory connect to available support and services. You will provide a service tailored to a person’s needs, interests, abilities, history and personality. You will be a key point of contact for people using our services, ensuring we keep in touch when they need support. This is a flexible, home-based role with an expected commitment of around half a day / three hours per week. You will make 6-monthly follow-up calls across the Lancashire and South Cumbria area and ideally commit to the role for a minimum of 12 months. Informal interviews will take place on Wednesday 8th October and Thursday 9th.
Responsibilities
- Provide telephone-based support and information tailored to individual needs.
- Make 6-monthly follow-up calls to people using our services in the Lancashire and South Cumbria area.
- Maintain contact with people at times when they need support and be a key point of contact for our services.
- Work flexibly from home and contribute as part of a team.
Qualifications
- You have good verbal communication and listening skills, particularly on the telephone.
- You are perceptive and able to demonstrate empathy with others.
- You are flexible, willing to learn and enjoy being part of a team.
- You are over the age of 18.
