Overview
We are recruiting two fixed-term contract opportunities for 2 commercial lawyers who wish to contribute positively to the charity sector, experience fresh challenges and make a real difference to the lives of people affected by dementia.
As a Legal Advisor, you will join the Risk and Assurance team, part of our Finance and Assurance directorate. Our vision is to be the Society’s single point of truth. We are trusted partners and credible experts, working as one team to be a true enabler to the organisation as it makes an impact on ending the devastation of dementia.
Partnership, collaboration, accountability, professionalism and a restless desire to constantly improve are needed in every role across Finance & Assurance. As a Society Legal Advisor, you will work in close partnership with stakeholders across Directorates to deliver a professional, credible, and valued legal service and opinion.
In this role, you will be a visible legal voice in the Society, helping to influence and ensure that the Society is operating safely, legally, and ethically. Liaising with stakeholders, you will provide advice and guidance on commercial, contract, and property-related legal matters, helping to shape risk-informed decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Providing pragmatic, timely, clear legal advice, guidance and support to internal clients on all general legal matters.
- Drafting, reviewing and amending contractual documentation in a manner that is proportionate to the scale and risk of the transaction and to ensure it is compliant with the law, regulations and guidance as well as the Society’s internal policies and procedures.
- Where appropriate, leading on legal negotiations or supporting internal clients with negotiations with counterparties.
- Developing standard legal documents and processes as directed and ensuring that they are up to date and fit for purpose.
- Providing legal training and information for Society staff and volunteers to increase awareness of and manage legal risks.
- Actively contributing to Society projects, strategies, or initiatives where legal input adds value.
About you
Joining us, you will have a legal background with a legal qualification and be 3+ PQE.
- You will be a good communicator with the interpersonal skills required to build relationships and form trust and respect throughout the organisation.
- You can absorb and understand the legal issues deriving from the operations of a large and complex organisation, whilst also providing pragmatic and user-friendly legal advice and support, including ad hoc oral advice.
- You can work collaboratively and deliver successful joint outcomes in potentially time-sensitive situations.
- While you may be allocated specific areas of the business to support or asked to focus on areas of legal specialism, you should have a sufficiently broad understanding of commercial legal matters to be able to provide guidance and support across all areas of general law, particularly contracts.
- Knowledge of charity would be a desirable addition.
Base pay range
This range is provided by Alzheimer\’s Society. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
