About The Role
A supporter opens an email at a moment they’re looking to understand why Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer, and how together we can beat dementia through fundraising, research, and campaigning activities. They discover an email created using evidence and insight to inspire action and build trust. We’re here for everyone affected by dementia. Whether someone is living with the condition, caring for a loved one, or trying to make sense of a diagnosis, we want them to feel supported, informed and understood.
We are a mix of advisors, supporters, fundraisers, researchers, communicators and technical specialists. Some of us are volunteers, some are employees, but we’re all working towards the same goal: making life better for people affected by dementia. We’re also committed to building a team where everyone feels welcome and able to be themselves. We know that different perspectives make us stronger, and we encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences.
As part of our Omnichannel Team, you’ll help shape how we connect with people through email and SMS by creating personalised, supporter focused communications and journeys. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the organisation, not just delivering great campaigns, but helping others feel confident and supported in doing the same. It will take a Society to beat dementia. Join us.
What you’ll do
- You’ll create and deliver email and SMS campaigns that clearly communicate that Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer and the solutions we offer, in a thoughtful and genuinely helpful way to the people receiving them.
- You’ll think about how messages feel as well as how they perform, making sure they are accessible and reach the right person at the right time and through the right channel.
- You’ll work alongside colleagues from different teams to plan and improve their campaigns, offering feedback in a way that builds confidence and supports learning.
- You’ll also develop and manage content calendars, helping to make sure our communications are joined up, relevant and aligned with what matters most to our supporters.
- Part of your role will involve building and improving automated journeys and integrations, helping to create smoother, more personalised experiences.
- You’ll spend time looking at performance data, running tests and using what you learn to keep improving how we communicate.
- You’ll also be a go-to person for our email and SMS platforms, sharing your knowledge, answering questions and helping others develop their skills.
About you
If this role sparks your curiosity and you feel inspired to make an impact, we would be thrilled to hear from you.
- You have experience with email marketing, planning, designing, building, and testing campaigns.
- You’re a confident writer who can adapt your tone and style to connect with different audiences.
- You enjoy putting together content calendars that reflect your organisation’s priorities and vision.
- You’ve built automated journeys or integrations for sending emails or SMS messages.
- You’ve experience training teams on how to use an ESP e.g. Dotdigital to build engaging and impactful email and SMS comms.
- You’re comfortable giving honest and supportive feedback based on best practice and evidence that helps others grow and shine.
- You like exploring data to see what’s working, what could improve, and how to make things even better.
- You love working with people, building positive, collaborative relationships, and celebrating team wins.
The work you do will help people feel informed, supported and less alone at times when it really matters. It’ll take a Society to beat Dementia. If you want to use your skills in a way that has real impact, and be part of a team that values ambition, kindness, collaboration and inclusion, we’d love to hear from you.
Our commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging
We need to ensure the voices around our table better reflect and understand the communities we exist to serve. We strongly encourage individuals to apply who have a disability, impairment or health condition or individuals who identify as Black, Asian or from another minority ethnic background, as these groups are currently under-represented at Alzheimer’s Society. We want everyone we work with, as a colleague, volunteer, supporter, or someone we support, to feel included and that they belong at Alzheimer’s Society.
Our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy here along with our internal employee forum and Employee Lived Experience network groups help us promote inclusion and belonging, becoming an engaged and inclusive organisation for all our people.
Our hiring process
During your recruitment process we want to make sure that you bring your whole self and can be at your best. We are working hard to ensure our recruitment process is as inclusive as possible, so please do inform us of your experience and anything you think we could do better by completing our candidate survey when you apply. Please also contact Alzheimer’s Society Talent Acquisition Team for application support or any adjustments you might need.
To ensure fairness and consistency to select the best candidate for this role, all our applications are anonymised up until an interview has been confirmed. We recognise the benefits of AI, but if you’re considering using it to submit your application, we encourage you to reflect on the value it truly adds. AI tools often lack the personal touch and authenticity that set candidates apart. We want to hear your unique perspective, experiences, and skills, so we encourage you to showcase them in your own voice.
We try to avoid closing roles early where possible, however if we receive a high volume of applications, we may close earlier than the advertised closing date. Should this occur, we will aim to provide you with at least 48 hours’ notice.
We are committed to safer recruitment and ensuring the welfare of those we work with, due to the nature of some of our roles, we might need to carry out a Criminal Record Check at the relevant level. You can read more information via our Website.
Giving back to you
Our employees work hard every day to make a true difference in people’s lives. We are proud to support them with a range of benefits, recognition and many options for working agilely, all contributing to a strong work-life balance. We also have various learning programmes to support you in your development and help you grow to realise your potential and shape a career with Alzheimer’s Society.
