If you’re passionate about supporting carers of people living with dementia, then we have just the volunteer role for you! Our Carers’ Information and Support Programmes (commonly referred to as CrISP) are a series of workshops for people caring for a family member or friend with dementia. CrISP aims to improve the knowledge, skills and understanding of people caring for a person with dementia, by providing effective support and up-to-date and relevant information.
We are looking for volunteers to support the delivery of the course which is a 2-hour workshop being delivered every week over 6 weeks. The programme is to be delivered in community venues across the city of Sheffield. The volunteer will support the programme facilitator to set up the room, welcoming carers, giving out handouts and supporting any carers who may become distressed and need to take a moment outside the group. At the end of the workshop, the volunteer will support with clearing the room.

- Sheffield Grand Mosque - Firth Park
- Masjid Quba Education Centre in Darnall
- Masjid Al-Huda Mosque - S3 7WT
- Stephen Hill Methodist Church 547 Manchester Rd, Sheffield S10 5PL Thursday 23rd April 2026 to Thursday 20th August 2026. 10.30am to 12.30pm
- Stocksbridge Christian Centre Cedar Road, Sheffield, England, S36 1AS Thursday 3rd September 2026 to Thursday 8th October 2026. 1pm to 3pm
- Crystal Peaks Adult Social Care Office, Sheffield 1-3 Peak Square, Waterthorpe, Crystal Peaks, Sheffield S20 7PH Thursday 4th June 2026 to Thursday 9th July 2025. 1pm to 3pm
You can choose to support one or more of these locations; the requirement is to commit to the 6-week courses on an ongoing basis throughout the year. A friendly face at the group, you’ll help carers feel at ease by chatting and listening to them and providing refreshments. You’ll encourage carers to share their experiences and provide information that will help them care for a person with dementia. You can also get involved by supporting at events to spread the word about the CrISP programme.

You’ll be great for the role if:
